I so enjoyed showing my work at the beautiful Dudley Mansion open house a few weeks ago! Of course, I brought my camera along to capture how amazing this home is for a wedding location. Parlett Picket, the daughter of Jim and Cyndi Pickett, is the event coordinator and is currently booking weddings for 2010!

The rental of the home includes access to the house for the week of the wedding. Wedding guests have access to the first floor and the front and back gardens. The gorgeous bride's dressing suite includes the use of two bedrooms and groom's entertainment suite includes the use of the private gym, gaming room and a 20 seat movie theatre. Space can also be rented for bridesmaid's luncheons, rehearsal dinners, a post wedding brunch. Another amazing feature of having your wedding at the mansion is the 1961 Rolls Royce. Great for photos- I must say!

The open house featured the vision of the ladies of The Dessert Divas. The team of fabulous bakers is multi-talented and they also do event and floral design. So you can have a gorgeous and tasty cake and amazing decor to go along with it! The total package! The Divas decorated the pretty in pink bridesmaid's luncheon table with a design inspired by pink rosebuds. They also made a very unique cake fashioned after the chandelier hanging in the bride's room of the mansion!

 

Here is a look at some of the engagement photos of Meredith and Patrick. We took them downtown Wilmington this January. We were super lucky to have this beautiful day in the middle of winter.

It is always refreshing when a bride is excited to try fun things for her bridal portrait. Elizabeth was such a great model for us. Her outfit was filled with beautiful details like her blue shoes. We love a fun pair of shoes for our brides. She also wore a flower with some feather accents in her hair with her veil. It made for such a gorgeous combination. She really knows how to pick the perfect details.

Here are the engagement photos of Melissa and Chuck. What a great couple. Melissa has always dreamed of getting married on Bald Head Island. Her family vacations there every year. They plan to marry in May. We took the opportunity to shoot their engagement photos while they were in town on their family vacation this year since they live out of state. They both work for PPD so they are in Wilmington frequently as well. I love her style. She wore this cool printed dress that really shows her personality. She also skipped the traditional engagement ring for a set of Tiffany bands that are to die for. There will be pictures taken of those at the wedding.

We had he honor of photographing the wedding day of Lisa, Frank and their beautiful little baby girl, Taylor, on April 26th. Family and friends joined them in a ceremony at Kenan Chapel in Landfall, and then they spent the evening at Blue Water enjoying a view of the waterway at sunset. Little Taylor made the perfect 'flower baby'. She was even pulled down the aisle by her two cousins in a lovely fabric and ribbon covered wagon. She had the cutest bewildered look on her face- she didn't know if she was supposed to laugh or cry. We had a lot of fun taking photos- what a great wedding!

Natale and Caleb had a beautiful wedding at the Graystone Inn in downtown Wilmington. The ever stylish Natale really looked stunning in her gorgeous dress with vintage touches. I love the birdcage veil! I always love the color red for a wedding. It is so romantic and the color is so vivid in photos. Notice the cool cake too! Every detail was perfect!

We took bridal portraits of Jennifer this spring at Meredith College. All of the trees were blooming so pretty. Jennifer and JT got married this past Saturday! Happy honeymooning in Cancun Jenny and JT!!!

The beautiful wedding of Amy and Angelo is featured in this issue of "The Bride's Book". Amy and Angelo got married last September at Orton Plantation. It was spectacular! Here are a few of the gorgeous images of their day.

Coco Chanel said, "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." I totally agree!  I thought we should start this blog off right with my favorite girls from Sex and the City. Isn't Carrie's dress the best ever? I LOVE it! I must say I am so excited for the new movie. Mark your calendars for May 30th- I'm totally planning a girls night out! Okay, I admit it, I worship Vera Wang. Let me tell you a designer dress is different than a lower priced dress. The fabric just lays nicer and the details are exquisite! Usually on the day of each wedding I get the brides dress and take photos of it while the bride is getting ready. Every time I see the little ribbons that the dress hangs by that say 'Vera Wang'- I have to secretly do a little dance of joy. It is a religious moment for me and it just makes my day! So, of course, I had to spend some time with the 'Vera's' at the Elegant Weddings Gala photographing their loveliness. You can purchase your very own 'Vera' at Alexia's Bridal. I highly recommend it!

We displayed our work at the Elegant Weddings Gala at the Prestonwod Country Club in Cary, North Carolina on March 6th. Can I say that I have dreamed of a bridal show like this for a very long time. The ballroom at the Prestonwood is absolutely fantastic and it is the perfect place to dream of your perfect wedding! The show was set up a little different than the usual bridal show. The room was divided into 4 sections. Each section had a different theme. The themes were romantic (light pink and black), timeless (purple and black colors), natural (light blue and tan colors), and dramatic (raspberry and lime colors). There were only one type of vendor per section- so only 4 photographers, 4 wedding planners, etc... The first table of each section was given to the florist representing that theme. The florists set the tone of the theme and brought flowers to decorate each vendor's table in their section. The florists were fantastic- there were so many flowers everywhere! I loved it! I brought my camera and took lots of photos. You will see a little sampling of the photos from all of the different vendors in my next posts.
