This past weekend was the fabulous Triangle Wine Experience event. The event is hosted by the International Special Events Society, an association of great people that I am really excited to be a part of. The photographers in the group volunteered to photograph the event for a slide show that played during the evening.

Here is an excellent description of the event by Carol Klenke, President, Greater Triangle NC Chapter of ISES:

"The first weekend in February is the date for our chapter's annual fundraiser, the Triangle Wine Experience Gala.  I am grateful to so many of you for donating products, expertise and time to help with the continued success our clients at Frankie Lemmon have come to expect.  Not only is this our chapter fundraiser but it is also their fundraiser allowing them to operate their school for disabled children, right here in Raleigh."
"The Triangle Wine Experience 2010, Hollywood & Vine! What an amazing night!  We transformed an empty warehouse off Discovery Drive into 2 great hot spots.  Upon entering the warehouse through a raised tent into a "Speakeasy", the guests were treated to 7 of the Triangle's hottest caterers preparing delicious appetizers and 42 of the country's leading wine makers were on site to offer tastings of their wines.  All of this was set in a room dressed in reds and blacks with gobos and red accents.   Hot hot hot!  Once it was time for the live Auction to begin our guests entered into the second phase of the evening, Hollywood Glamour!!!  54 tables were dressed and decorated with beautiful linens, candles and candelabras topped with floral arrangements.  18' black velour pipe and drape dressed the walls and a classic Hollywood themed back drop dressed the stage where Marvelous Mark once again was on site to dazzle the guests until long after midnight!"

This past fall, I had the opportunity to shoot a feature for the Weddings Magazine in Raleigh. The feature was a rehearsal dinner staged at the 1705 Prime Catering and Events restaurant. The lovely table was decorated beautifully in pinks, and deep red colors with a gorgeous platinum and black table linen by Classic Party Rentals. I loved the modern submerged arrangements artfully designed by Michael with Fleurtations Weddings.
The very cool and modern cake was by Swank Cake Designs and the seating chart, table numbers and favors were provided by Maria Scheel. I think have a harpist at any event just makes the atmosphere elegant. The harpist is the very talented Laura Byrne and the whole look was orchestrated by Kara with A Southern Soirre. It was such a fun experience to see the work of so many amazing people. Here are a few of my favorites and then you will see how it all turned out in the actual magazine spread!

lisaphoto10.jpgHere are few rare shots of me 'in action' taken by my assistant Jill. Usually at weddings we are working so fast that it is almost impossible to think of taking an action shot, but on a shoot like this we are able to take it a little easier and enjoy the creative process!

I so enjoyed showing my work at the beautiful Dudley Mansion open house a few weeks ago! Of course, I brought my camera along to capture how amazing this home is for a wedding location. Parlett Picket, the daughter of Jim and Cyndi Pickett, is the event coordinator and is currently booking weddings for 2010!

The rental of the home includes access to the house for the week of the wedding. Wedding guests have access to the first floor and the front and back gardens. The gorgeous bride's dressing suite includes the use of two bedrooms and groom's entertainment suite includes the use of the private gym, gaming room and a 20 seat movie theatre. Space can also be rented for bridesmaid's luncheons, rehearsal dinners, a post wedding brunch. Another amazing feature of having your wedding at the mansion is the 1961 Rolls Royce. Great for photos- I must say!

The open house featured the vision of the ladies of The Dessert Divas. The team of fabulous bakers is multi-talented and they also do event and floral design. So you can have a gorgeous and tasty cake and amazing decor to go along with it! The total package! The Divas decorated the pretty in pink bridesmaid's luncheon table with a design inspired by pink rosebuds. They also made a very unique cake fashioned after the chandelier hanging in the bride's room of the mansion!

It was so cold on this morning- 18 degrees plus wind chill! The Divas braved the severe weather to create these gorgeous magnolia swags for the four posts in the front of the house. I thought they fit perfectly with the grandeur of this lovely southern mansion!

So, sometimes my job is all about fun. I'll admit it! This spring we attending the Sweet and Sassy Open House Party as one of the sponsors. We set up a backdrop and took free photos of the girls at the party. It was super fun- nothing cuter than little girls. Being a 'girly girl' myself- it is just the kind of thing that I would have loved as a child. Well, also as a big kid too. We even took our own photos!

If you have never been to a Sweet and Sassy store, it is worth the trip. It is all about hair, nails, and dress up. The girls even have a runway to strut their stuff! They have birthday parties for little girls and even big grown up girls too! We loved being there with some of my favorite ladies, The Dessert Divas! Their cakes are seriously fantastic and they were passing out samples! Hmmm! Very tempting. I'll have to admit their cakes are addicting, and I had a few cupcakes throughout the afternoon. The Divas surprised me at the end of the party with the lovely mermaid cake! What a treat!

The latest issue of Southern Bride and Groom has been released and we are especially excited because our photo is featured on the cover! Our 'cover couple', Jonay and David, were married on the 4th of July at the Carolina Inn. We had the chance to celebrate the magazine launch at the Southern Bride and Groom Spring Luncheon on April 2nd, 2009 at Sister's Garden in Raleigh. What a beautiful party! Loved the colors! I had fun taking a few shots of the cute bouquets on the tables, adorable cupcakes, and the lovely ladies of Southern Bride magazine. Thanks again Donna for selecting our photo!

Last night we were invited to a beautiful party given by Joel Hurley and Dale Herring, owners of the Preston Woodall House, in Benson. It was a celebration of their 10 year anniversary in the wedding business at the historic home. What a fantastic party! We really enjoyed the gorgeous flowers provided by Lyn of Fresh Affairs. He created very dramatic, tall arrangements with cascading white orchids, crystals, peonies and roses. My favorite! There was also a beautiful cake, excellent food, wine and great music! They attached a tent to the reception room that was lit with blue lights. It looked very 'icy' with white leather couches, candles and a clear glass bar. We were excited to be able to attend the event as a guest for a change instead of working! Although, I couldn't resist bringing my camera.  I kept it simple- only one lens! Here are a few of the photos:
