"Yeah! the circus!- the circus is fun!" This is what my two year old nephew, Ian said all the way to the circus and all the way home that night. He even said, "My circus! I want to go to the circus!" when he went to sleep that night and when he woke up the next morning in his adorable little baby voice.
We went to the circus last week for the Azalea Festival. It really is a surreal experience- the red and gold stripped tent standing in the middle of a field, complete with flags on top. When we arrived, it felt like we could have gone back in time a 100 years and still have seen the same scene and show. I brought my 'big' camera with my 'big' zoom lens. The circus banned all video, but they said to take as many photos as we liked. I didn't think there would be too many cameras like mine- I felt a little paparazzi-ish so I tried to keep it on the down-low during the show. I knew I would be able to get some really bright, colorful and cool shots- so I couldn't resist! I didn't use a flash because I would be too far away- so I knew there would be some motion blur- but that's part of the fun!
I am so in love with these shots I got of the glamorous circus 'diva'. I think she could be from the "Moulon Rouge" movie. The spotlight hitting her and the lovely rim lighting is a photographer's dream.

Everything about this circus was so classic- they even ended the show by shooting a guy out of a cannon!

The camels were stylish with their colorful tassels. They rocked out to some arabian sounding music as they ran around in a circle. It was so cool!

The amazing girls that do tricks while hanging by their hair! Talk about a headache!
Cool flying acrobats!
